About Care at Casey House

The goals of Casey House's programs and services are to:

  • Help clients and their families to enhance their quality of life and maintain dignity at all stages of the HIV/AIDS process.
  • Link clients and their families with the most appropriate services to promote, maintain and support their quality of life
  • Help clients and their families to participate in establishing a mutually agreed upon plan of care with Casey House staff

Our caregivers collaborate in interprofessional teams to provide compassionate supportive(sub-acute), palliative, and end of life care, which is client-centered, holistic and culturally sensitive.

The Hospice Philosophy: Casey House is a specialty hospital, where the care provided reflects the hospice philosophy, through our comprehensive and compassionate programs for individuals and their families infected and affected by HIV/AIDS. The hospice orientation seeks to maximize the individual's quality of life; the emphasis is on living rather than dying. It recognizes that when cure is not possible, providing care and comfort can be just as significant a contribution. It realizes the value of attending to the emotional, social and spiritual needs along with the physical health care requirements. It views each person as having unique hopes, fears, anger, expectations and desires. It recognizes each person as having individual views of family and lifestyle. The person is valued as the central focus of the program, and participates fully in choice and direction of care.

Hospice care may not be appropriate for everyone. Some health conditions may demand treatment or equipment not available in the Residential or Community Programs, and some persons may find the program unsuited to their personal needs. But for many, Casey House will offer a valuable option.
